I remember when I opened my first credit card, and subsequently began to max it out not too long after. I felt powerful, rich, and worth something. How foolish I was. From there everything spiraled out of control, more lines of credit, more personal loans, and more debt.
My future spouse and I had come to the conclusion that if we ever hoped to afford the wedding we want and pay off our debt then one must become a priority.
Maybe it’s just us, but at the beginning of our relationship, we didn’t really know how to talk about money together. We never brought up our spending habits, never knew how to talk about our debts. This was a big weakness of ours that we turned into a great strength.
