From On Our Way World …

“Atul Gawande’s “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” is the single most important book written in at least the last 100 years.

It’s a must-read for anyone in the medical community. It’s a must-read for anyone not in the medical community. It answers the “Why of FI”, the “Meaning of Life”, and everything in between.

The description says the book is about end of life care, about different models for assisting the infirm or elderly – and to the naked eye, it is. But it’s so, so much more than that – it talks about what matters. It talks about the things we remember, and the things we care about on our deathbed. It shares the stories of people who are facing the end of their life and recalling what mattered to them. As someone who has spent my entire career, since I was a nurse’s aid at the age of 15, caring for the elderly, sick, and dying – it’s so, so spot-on.”
